“While some of these online events may have begun only as a solution to temporary restrictions on travel and public gatherings, there is something to be said for the long-term ability to bring cultural heritage preservation, in digital form, into classrooms and communities across the globe. For the last year, students, scholars, and the general public have been able to engage with content that they would not have been to access otherwise.”

Archaeologist and program coordinator Muaffaq Hazz

Archaeologist and program coordinator Muaffaq Hazza of the Umm el-Jimal Archaeology Project (UJAP) giving a ceramics lesson at the site’s interpretation and hospitality center, completed in late 2019. His master’s thesis on the archeological history of Umm el-Jimal spanning the Nabataean and Umayyad periods is one of several recent research publications on the site at Jordanian universities. The UJAP represents increasing engagement of local communities with the restoration and presentation processes of archaeological sites in order to achieve both their own economic sustainability and preservation of their cultural heritage. عالم الآثار ومُنسّق البرنامج السّيد مُوفق هزّاع من مشروع آثار أم الجمال يعطي درسًا في الخزف في مركز الترجمة والضيافة بالموقع الذي أُكـتمل في أواخر عام 2019. رسالة الماجستير التي أعدها مُوفـق كانت تتحدث عن التاريخ الأثري لأم الجمال الممتد عبر الفترتين النبطية و الأموية، وهي واحدة من العديد من المنشورات البحثية الحديثة للموقع المتوفرة في الجامعات الأردنية

مشروع آثار أم الجمال يمثل زيادة في مشاركة المجتمعات المحلية بعمليات الترميم وعرض المواقع الأثرية من أجل تحقيق الاستدامة الاقتصادية الخاصة بها والحفاظ على تراثها الثقافي. (تصوير علي برقاوي)

لا يزال مبنى أكور قيد التجديد حاليًا ؛ المكتبة مُغلقة في الوقت الراهن ومن المتوقع إعادة فتح أبوابها في الخريف من هذا العام. التجديدات في المكتبة ستكون كبيرة ومُوسّعه مثلا: إنشاء مدخل جديد ومستقل لزوّار المكتبة، توسعة الطابق السفلي للمكتبة، إضافة العديد من خزائن الكتب المعدنية المتحركة، العمل على تحسين الإضاءة، وتطوير وحدة شبكة الانترنت، وما إلى ذلك. استعدادًا لهذا العمل، قمنا بتعبئة وتخزين مجموعات الكتب في صناديق وحفظها بعيدًا، وتم انشاء مكتبة صغيرة ومؤقتة خُصّصت لزملاء بحث أكور في الوقت الحالي

ACOR’s facility is presently under renovation. A

ACOR’s facility is presently under renovation. As a result, the library is currently closed, with an expected reopening in the fall. The renovated library will have many changes, such as: a new entrance, expanded workspace in the lower library, more compact shelves, improved lighting, upgraded WiFi, etc. In preparation for this work , we boxed and stored away our library materials, some of which are available in a small temporary library space accessible to our fellows during the main library closure.

“Scan on demand”: While the library itself it closed to in-person visitors until fall 2021, the library staff remains at your service. If we can access a work and you would like a portion scanned, send us an email request. We will do our best to meet your needs.

ركّز موظفو مكتبة أكور مؤخرا

ركّز موظفو مكتبة أكور مؤخراً على إضافة المزيد من العناوين ضِمن مصادر مفتوحة الوصول الى فهرس المكتبة من كـتب ومجلات ومقـالات ورسائل دكتوراه وماجستير باللغتين العربيّة والانجليزيّة وفي عــدة تخصصات منها : الهندسة المعماريـّة، السّياحة، الانثروبولوجيا (علم الإنسان)....إلخ

تم فهرسة تسجيلات مفتوحة الوصول لمحاضرات قُدمت في مؤتمر "حماية الماضي: علم الآثار والمحافظة والسياحة في شمال الأردن"، والذي عُقد في متحف الأردن في عام 2015. كان الغرض من الندوة مناقشة كيف يمكن للتطوّرات الحديث في البحث الآثاري في شمال الأردن (عمان) أن تؤثر على فهم التراث الثقافي الأردني على نطاق أوسع من خلال الاكتشاف وإعادة التفسير، والتقديمات بشكل أفضل، جمع المؤتمر مختصين دوليين و محليين من تخصصات عديدة . للمزيد هنا
